Halewood Artisanal Spirits is an award-winning UK-based craft distiller. Its range of high growth premium spirits includes Whitley Neill Gin, JJ Whitley Vodka, Dead Man’s Fingers Rum, Crabbie Whisky and Samuel Gelston’s Irish Whiskey.
Halewood currently owns nine distilleries across the UK, as well as the award-winning Hawkshead Brewery which is based in the Lake District.

Halewood Artisanal Spirits South Africa was established in 1999 and has since become South Africa’s fastest growing spirits company. The business produces a range of premium artisanal spirits, in addition to locally award-winning spirit coolers.
The business has transformed from producing mainly spirit coolers to growing a balanced product portfolio. This includes internationally renowned gin brands such as Belgravia Gin, which is now the best-selling gin in South Africa. Halewood Artisanal Spirits takes great pride in its dedication to new product development, and growing a strong corporate culture.
Halewood Artisanal Spirits Australia opened its doors for trading in 2019; shortly after this, the business took full ownership of Sydney based craft distillery Ironbark Gin Distillery. Besides selling a range of local artisanal spirits, the company sells a wide range of imported award-winning artisanal spirits from Halewood’s UK portfolio.
A small dedicated sales force has been serving the independents and on-trade with a growing presence in National accounts; the business has achieved growth of over 100,000pa cases since operations began and commenced selling in New Zealand into 2020.
Russia is home to our J.J Whitley Vodka Distillery, which rests in the old town of Kingisepp, previously named Yamburg after its Yam fortress established in 1384. The town is located in the St Petersburg region (Leningrad Oblast) on the Luga River. The town has a long military history with battles with Swedes, The Civil War, Estonians and Germans with its own Imperial regiment, 146th foot. The Vodka Distillery was once one of largest in Russia, and back in the 1990’s its brand Flagman (Flagship) presented the lead ship in the fleet and St Petersburg’s naval history.
Today as part of Halewood Group, the Distillery is dedicated to producing the highest quality vodka under the award winning (IWSC gold medal) JJ Whitley brand.
Halewood China became a full subsidiary of the Halewood Group in 2016. Today, the 11-strong team work closely with major distributors in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Chengdu, to drive presence of Halewood’s artisanal spirits portfolio across the country. In the off trade there are now over 200 stores across China stocking Halewood’s core products, as well as over 300 bars and hotels. The business is also growing its eCommerce offer, with the range now listed in the likes of Taobao, T-mall and JD.com.
While already having a footprint in market through Crabbie’s Ginger Beer (the country’s number one alcoholic ginger beer), Halewood Artisanal Spirits Canada established a permanent office in Canada in 2019, and has quickly positioned itself as the purveyor of some of the UK’s finest premium spirits.
A small dedicated sales team, working alongside one of Canada’s more respected and established distributors – Authentic Wines & Spirit Merchants – has quickly developed itself in market, leading to a number of key listings across the provinces, including Whitley Neill Rhubarb & Ginger Gin, which is already the fastest growing gin within Canada.
Halewood Germany started trading in September 2020. The business is focused on growing Halewood’s portfolio of core spirits within all key retailers and in the on premise, whilst also driving online strategy through TheDropStore.de and Amazon.de.
Thedropstore.de launched in October 2020, and since then has turned over in excess of €700k – successfully delivering a direct to consumer solution in a strong e-commerce market. Through the website the business is able to launch products, drive trial and awareness of core brands, whilst also offering merchandise direct to consumers.
